Who we are
Brisanne is a small self-drive hire company in Salford. One Moskvich 5, one reserve car, no forecourt. We deliver and collect free inside the M60, which is where nearly all our bookings sit.
Why we are blunt about price
The thing that drives people away from car hire is not the headline rate, it is the gap between the rate and the amount that eventually leaves their account. Excess cover pushed at the counter, refuelling charges, admin fees, a delivery line nobody mentioned.
So we publish one table and one list of what is in it, and there is no third list of optional extras. Fuel, mileage beyond your allowance and damage beyond fair wear are the only things that can ever be added, and all three are on the written quote before you commit.
The numbers we refuse to publish
You will not find a fuel consumption figure or a boot capacity anywhere on this site. Both are widely quoted for this car and the published versions contradict each other. Rather than pick the most flattering one, we explain how to measure your own — which is what our piece on running costs mostly does.
Where our money goes
Since this page is about being straight with numbers, here is ours. The largest costs of running a one-car hire business are the things customers never see: servicing on interval rather than on symptom, transmission fluid that costs more than people expect, and the valet before every handover. We price those in rather than recovering them through fees at the counter, which is the whole reason the counter fees do not exist.
- Servicing budgeted in advance, not deferred until something complains
- Transmission fluid treated as a fixed cost — on a CVT it is the expensive one to skip
- Consumables replaced at the point of wear rather than the point of failure
- Valet before every handover, costed into the rate
- A grounded car costs us a booking, which is why faults get fixed the same week
If something here is unclear, ask us — we would rather answer than have you guess.
